By choice, and probably partially by necessity, I'm gonna get through this winter with songs about Seattle. So today, I bring you several songs by Seattle Hip Hop artists, rapping about Seattle. There's a Portland and Seattle rivalry that's been going on since way before I moved here. Generally, Portland has a lot more to offer than Seattle but I'm gonna say with absolute certainty and love, Seattle has the best hip hop, here's my proof.
Cancer Rising - "Evryday Bidness"
Macklemore - "The Town"
Blue Scholars - "Joe Metro"
Jake One Featuring; Vitamin D, Note, Maneak B, and Ish - "Home"
Sir Mix Alot - "Posse On Broadway"
And finally today we have snow in Seattle, and even though it's 2 pm, I haven't had my morning coffee. So today is coffee and snow party deux. Also, I'm hungry for some arroz caldo.

2010.
2010 is coming to a close soon. It's been a tough year for myself and a lot of the people around me. As the year comes to a close, the deluge of wickedness is flowing harder than ever.
The good news is, rock bottom hasn't hit. I'm not even sure anyone knows where rock bottom is, but be assured, this isn't it. January 1, 2011 will come sooner rather than later. So, I guess I'm just going to keep posting videos here with little comments until that magical day where we can start fresh and problems don't arise. Tonight I'm organizing my room and getting the mildew out of my mattress, I wish this was a metaphor for something else. Tomorrow I'll go spend my rent money on my car and sell a bunch of stuff to try to recover. In my life, I've been poorer and I've gone hungry, but now is not that time, for that, I'm grateful.
Our problems will still be with us in 2011 but we'll let the new year renew our attitudes.
For now, I bring you Macklemore and The Mountain Goats. Please do not float away in Seattle City Streets.
The Mountain Goats - Up The Wolves is here because of the lyrics; "There'll always be a few things maybe several things that you're going to find really difficult to forgive. There's gonna come a day when you'll feel better, and you'll rise up free and easy on that day and float from branch to branch, lighter than the air, just when that day is coming, who can say, who can say."
Macklemore - Irish Celebration is here because of the lyrics; "We put our glass to the sky and lift up. And live tonight 'cause you can't take it with ya. So raise a pint for the people that aren't with us. And live tonight 'cause you can't take it with ya"
Workin' on being the person I want to be.

Black Coffee and Cigarettes
Coffee is harder to quit than cigarettes. Morning rituals die hard. Tea won't cut it. I've quit cigarettes maybe three times and haven't touched the stupid things in years. In their absence, like an addict, coffee has become a replacement. My focus often fails me and coffee offers a quick and effective cure. With a focused brain, my body suffers. TMJ and heart flutters remind me once again, coffee is no good for me.
So I'm sitting on the couch, thinking about the cold winter ahead, drinking tea, wishing it was coffee.

The Mountain Goats - This Year
It's almost October and the mad dash for holidays will begin soon. 2009 was a bad year for a lot of my friends and it seems as though 2010 has lived up to the challenge of being even worse. After December we'll all breath a sigh of relief and start over again with new intentions, goals, and a repurposed drive to settle our scores. Soon the local radio station, KEXP, will start playing The Mountain Goat's "This Year" regularly. The leaves will change. We'll all get a little soft. The leaves will fall. It will snow. 2011 will be better.
